While the study found that real wages have dropped by 2.8 percent on average across all occupations, five of the 10 largest low-wage job categories experienced a drop of 5 percent or more. Women make up nearly two-thirds of all minimum wage workers and dominate the categories hit the hardest. They make up between 83-87 percent of home health and personal care aid workers, 85 percent of maids and housekeeping cleaners and 70 percent of food-service workers.

reports Thomson Reuters, in a new study titled “The Professional Revolution.” According to the study:

  • 63% of women think having their work recognized compared by their superiors is important, compared to 53% of men
  • 61% of women think gaining respect from co-workers is important, compared to 53% of men
  • Men (56%) and women (55%) prefer interactive/collaborative work environments
  • Men (55%) and women (56%) think having a vision in their careers is important
  • Solving problems is important to 63% of men and women
